  1. 1) The concentration of water decreased by 2%, not by 2 percentage points. Thus, we should calculate the decrease of the concentration of water in such a way: 98% * 2% = 1,96%
    2) The decrease of water in kilograms: 5 * 1,96% = 0,098
    3) The new weight of the oranges in kilograms: 5 – 0,098 = 4,902 ≈ 4,9

    The correct answer is (A)

  2. Еще один вариант решения:
Total amount × percent decrease = decrease in amount
Total amount – decrease in amount = net result

    5 × 0.02 = 0.1
    5 – 0.1 = 4.9

    (A)

  3. Answer C.
5 kg= 98% of water and 2% of peel for instance.
    2%= 100 gm.
Then we have 96 % of water, hence 4 % of peel.
If our 100gm of peel is 4% of oranges now, so the weight of oranges should be 2,5 kg.
